Meta Ads

What Boosting a Post Actually Does (and Doesn't)

Nightosphere Media 4 min read

Boosting is Meta's simplest ad product. Click a blue button under a post, pick a budget, done. It works — for what it is. But it is not a substitute for a real campaign, and treating it like one costs Philippine SMBs a lot of money every month.

What boosting is good for

  • Extending reach on an organic post that's already performing
  • Getting a bit more visibility for time-sensitive announcements
  • Testing whether a piece of content resonates before investing more

What boosting can't do

  • Optimize for conversions or leads (only engagement / reach)
  • Use custom audiences properly
  • Split-test creative in a structured way
  • Give you the reporting depth to know what's actually working

The rule we give clients

If you're posting anyway and want a bit more reach — boost it, ₱200–₱500, and move on. If you're trying to generate leads, sell a product, or grow revenue — you need a real ads campaign in Ads Manager, not a boost.

The tools look similar. The outcomes are not.
